Area code 516 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the western part of Long Island in the state of New York. It covers Nassau County and parts of Suffolk County, including the towns of Hempstead, Long Beach, and Oyster Bay. Area code 516 was established in 1951 as one of the original area codes in New York. It is bordered by area codes 631 to the east and 718/347/929 to the west.
